Hyperdimensional Minds: The Shocking (and exciting) New Theory About Human Consciousness

Tatiana Da Silva Episode 53

In this episode, we dive into a fascinating new theory at the crossroads of science and spirituality that suggests our consciousness might connect to hidden dimensions of the universe!

Inspired by the work of Dr. Michael Pravica, a professor of physics at the University of Nevada, this episode explores the groundbreaking idea that human consciousness may not solely originate from the brain but instead tap into hyperdimensional realms beyond our everyday perception.

Key Highlights:

  • New Theory in Physics: Dr. Michael Pravica's proposition that consciousness might exist in hidden dimensions, challenging traditional understandings of the brain and consciousness.
  • Hyperdimensionality Explained: Discover how the universe might consist of more than the four dimensions we perceive (height, width, depth, and time) and how heightened states of awareness—like creativity and dreaming—might allow us to access these hidden dimensions.
  • The Intersection of Science and Spirituality: Why this theory excites those who believe that spirituality and science are not at odds, but rather two sides of the same coin.
  • The Evolution of Scientific Understanding: Similar to how the discovery of epigenetics revolutionized biology, this new theory may be a significant step toward validating the spiritual experiences that have long been part of human life.
  • Criticism and Skepticism: We also explore the pushback against this emerging theory and discuss why challenging conventional views is essential for scientific progress.

Join me as we discuss what it means to live an integrated life and explore ways for you to create a life filled with greater meaning, peace, and connection by integrating the wisdom of spirituality, psychology, Neuroscience, Epigenetics and Energy Psychology are hoped to empower you to create deeper and more loving connections with yourself and others, whilst also paving the way for humanity at large to be reimagined and inspired to become the very best version of itself. Hello, and welcome to the integrated wisdom podcast. Thank you so much for joining me for yet another week. I am very excited to be bringing this week's episode. As it's a topic that is close to my heart. Those of you that have you following me? For a little while. Or know that I am. Very big on advocating for the integration of spirituality. And science or spirituality and psychology more specifically. And I come from the perspective that we are spiritual beings. Having a human experience. And I feel that it's only a matter of time before we start to be able to. I guess demonstrate that spiritual context in which life happens. And I've done a few podcast episodes before where I have spoken about some advances in scientific research. That'd been touching on this. Or having stayed to shine a spotlight on this. At the start of this year, I spoke about some advances in quantum biology. That were really exciting and were starting to pave the way for conversations to be had around the possibility that. consciousness exists outside of our brain and our body. And in fact has a connection to the universe. And for those of you who haven't listened to that episode, I highly recommend that you do. I will add a link to that episode in the show notes to make it easier for you. If you haven't heard, had a chance to listen to that one yet. And. Science more recently has definitely been shining a bigger spotlight on the spiritual realm. And I guess starting to explore. The, the fact that there is a spiritual element to, to life, to. Human beings. And even starting to appreciate that. Really in order for us to, to continue to progress as a species, we need to start factoring that in, into. Our understanding of the world and ourselves. And so it was very exciting for me to come across. An article this week. That expands this even further. So. that's what I wanted to talk to you all about today. Well this week, just want to give you this brief little overview of this new theory. That's starting to be discussed more broadly. To be clear. It is. A theory in its infancy. There's absolutely no. scientific. Proof that this theory is correct. There's certainly a lot of pushback. At the prospect of this theory, but for me, the reason I wanted to talk about it is mostly because I find it really exciting that such a theory even exists. And so. this theory comes from. A professor of physics at the university of Nevada and Las Vegas. And the U S Dr. Michael Pravica. And Dr. Pravica suggests that our consciousness might not just be a product of brain activity. But in fact it might actually be tapping into hidden dimensions of the universe. So he's postulating that consciousness human consciousness doesn't actually originate in the brain. But. In actual fact is connected to. Other dimensions beyond the dimensions that we're aware of. On earth. Which is mind-blowing, right? Because when you come from the spiritual perspective of. Humans being souls that inhabit a human physical body, but once the body dies, that soul. that sentient energy essence. Continues to exist beyond the limitations of the physical body. And. A theory, like this is one step towards being able to actually demonstrate that. Right. So I was beside myself, when I came across this. And what's interesting is again, a lot of this is based on. Very theoretical concepts, nothing that has been conclusively proven. But he has based his theory. On the concept of hyper dimentionality. Which is this idea that the universe has more dimensions of the four that we perceive in our physical senses. So the height, the width and the depth of material matter. And the concept of time. So that's an additional dimension that we perceive. But what Dr Pravica. has, has been postulating or proposing, is that when we're in states of heightened awareness, like when we're dreaming, when we're being creative, Or engaged and deeply focused on. Intellectual tasks. Our consciousness might actually be transcending our physical dimension. And connecting with these hidden realms. If you like. So this idea of extra dimensions, isn't actually new to physics. And. You know, It shouldn't need to say this, but I'm going to say it anyway. I am clearly not a physicist. I'm a psychologist. And so many of these concepts, all. Way outside my, my level of understanding. And so I'm not going to sit here and, and. Try to explain the intricacies of these, of the physics and the, and the different theories that. form this approach that Dr. Pravica is taking. But in essence in physics, there is already. A school of thought that. Uh, has considered. The possibility that there are extra dimensions to our reality. Beyond the four that we experienced, like I mentioned, In fact, it's actually, what's a core element of string theory. Which in essence proposes that the universe is made up of tiny vibrating strings of energy. That can exist in up to 11 dimensions. So there's potentially. Six or seven dimensions beyond the ones that we can already. feel and measure with our, with the sensors that are available to us in our physical body. And the tools that we have. Available, scientifically at the moment. And obviously these additional six, seven dimensions exist outside the scope of the tools that we have, which is why they're it's, it's still. Sitting very firmly in the camp of theory. It hasn't yet been proven in, certainly may not be proven in a lifetime though. I'm always hopeful that that will, that will change. Um, But that's in essence, what string theory says. Right that there are additional dimensions. That make up the universe that we don't yet perceive or don't have the means to perceive. But that they're there and that they haven't influenced. In the experiences that we have here on earth. And in fact, may account for some of the phenomenon that science hasn't yet been able to explain. So it's super exciting. Right. That there is this whole realm of physics that is opening itself up to the possibility that there are these spiritual realms, this invisible realms, then have an influence. Um, and interaction. With the material. Nature of the world that we have, that we live in and. Uh, ourselves. At large. And so when I read this, I just wanted to share it because I do feel like it's, it's one step it's one more step in that right direction. Right. Um, I believe firmly that. Science is a very valuable tool and it's not at odds with spirituality. In fact, it's the mechanism through which we started to understand. the spiritual nature of life. And vice versa. I think they go hand in hand. And suddenly science is limited by the questions that it asks and the tools that it has. But more recently, there's definitely been leaps and bounds in terms of the questions and the tools that we've been able to access. And so our understanding of life and ourselves. Continues to expand. In more recent decades at an exponential rate, someone say, And so, yeah, it's super exciting for me. To to come across this concept that this additional. Uh, scientific lens is being. Placed over. Uh, potential spiritual explanation for some of the things that we experienced for, for how we exist. Um, you know, It does. It's not a big leap to make. to go from. Our consciousness doesn't originate in the brain. It comes from additional dimensions in the universe, as Dr Pravica has postulated. Or to the idea that we are energy sentience beings that exist beyond the limitations of our physical bodies. And so that's what I wanted to share with you again, it's. Sadly, it's not something that I can say has been conclusively demonstrated or proven. But I think the fact that these questions are being asked that these theories are being postulated is a huge step. It's a leap. In fact, Towards that right direction. Right. I think about. Some of the, the understandings and then that we used to hold this fact in science. That we have now learned. We're actually. Not completely accurate and have seen Inc expanded our understanding of certain subject matters and. Incorporated these additional findings. No one that comes to mind for me is the concept of DNA. When I was in high school, studying biology in high school, which yeah. Between us. It wasn't that long ago. Um, There. We were taught that. You know, DNA was double helix structure with the protein chains in the middle. And that was all there was to it. And it's not since we maybe 15, 10 years ago. That we started to really understand that there are many other structures to, DNA's not just the double helix. And in fact that there is this additional layer that governs DNA gene expression. Which is has been termed epigenetics. And that's the, the mechanism that takes into account the influence of the environment in the experiences that we have to determine how genes are expressed or suppressed. Um, Sort of, you know, for many, many, many decades, There was no awareness that that existed, but it's obviously always been there. Right. All it took is for some additional technological advances to come through and some curious questions to be asked, to be able to shine a spotlight on these other layers to something we already held us. Understood. To expand. And I think this is exactly what's happening in the realm of. Spirituality and science, they're starting to turn towards each other and recognize that. We're talking about the same things from different angles, really. You know, some of the things, the spiritual experiences that we discuss. There. They're not supernatural. They're part off the natural world. We just don't have the means to demonstrate or explain them yet. And that science as job. Right? And so as these questions continue to be posed, that's hopefully what we're going to get. We're going to start to understand more and more. How all these things kind of come together and start to see more and more. The the additional spiritual elements. To human beings and to live here. You know, to life in general. So I hope you found this as fascinating as I did. I will put a link to the article. In my show notes for you. If you'd like to read some of this, um, you know, I will pref. I will say that. Of course there's a lot of pushback increases on to this theory. It's a very, it's a very new theory. But it's in a sort of course, as with any type of new school of thought. There's going to be pushback. And the, the criticism. Mostly centered around the idea that. These types of theories potentially open the door for, for speculation and unscientific discussions. And try to force people into believing that it's not okay to not know. Those things. Um, and you know, there's potentially some validity to that, but I think as well, We can't advance our knowledge. Of anything without, being curious about what we don't know. Right. We don't know what, we don't know a lot of the time. some of these things that we're talking about, we know we don't know them. Like we know we don't know exactly how consciousness works. Even the fact that the consciousness starts in the brain, that's a theory. Some of these. Some of the elements of consciousness interacting with the brain we can measure. And so it's easy to conclude. That that's where it originates from, but it's still a theory, right? Nothing has caught. Like categorically proven. And then a shadow of doubt that there is no other cause for consciousness other than brain activity. And so. You know, part of being a scientist is asking questions like that. It's asking what don't we know, how else could we try to point at the answers? So, yeah, these sorts of debates really excite me. And yeah, I hope you found this intriguing. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. You can always reach out to me on. integrated. underscore wisdom at Instagram. Or you can email me directly and hello@integratedwisdom.com.au. So either one, those you can reach, reach me. I'd love to hear your experiences, any questions or thoughts that may have. Um, like I said, oh, add a link to the article in the show notes. And I also. And a link to the other episode I did early in the year. Where I spoke about some of the, some similar advances in the field of quantum biology. Um, which again, we're also being really exciting and a step in the direction towards demonstrating the spiritual nature of life and human beings in particular. So I hope you'll have a lovely week and I will speak to all next time. Thank you for tuning in to this episode of Integrated Wisdom.
